Niharika Konidela’s Pink Elephant Pictures, in association with Maximum City Studios, has announced "Pocket Rockets", an upcoming urban drama written and directed by Rudra Atri. With its production now wrapped and post-production underway, the film brings together a story of aspiration and risk, led by emerging performers and featuring a prominent presence from an established Telugu actor.
Trinadh Varma, known for his role in Committee Kurrollu, and debutant Nirmal headline the film, with Shriya Kontham, known for Shubham, playing the female lead. JD Chakravarthy appears in a pivotal role, adding an experienced screen presence to the ensemble.
At the centre of "Pocket Rockets" is a brilliant student from an underprivileged background who dreams of studying abroad. Faced with the financial challenges standing between him and that ambition, he turns to gambling, drawing the attention of a manipulative gambling shark. The premise places the protagonist at the intersection of aspiration and uncertainty, setting up a conflict in which the pursuit of a better future may come at the cost of the values that define him. Without giving away the finer details of the narrative, the film positions itself as an urban drama about the risks people take when opportunity appears beyond their reach.
The film is produced by Padmaja Konidela, Rahul Raghavendra and Rahul Nimmakuri, with Ramesh Manyam serving as executive producer. The technical team includes cinematographer Edurolu Raju, music composer Gyaani and editor Anwar Ali. Vishnu Vardhan Pulla is the production designer, Rajesh Lanka handles action choreography, and JD is the choreographer. The crew also comprises costume designer Anusha Devara, SFX supervisor Sai Maneendhar Reddy, co-director Murali Krishna Katta, makeup chief Pasupuleti Ravi Kumar, costume chief R. Bhupal Rao and production controller Rawindar Bekkam. Varahala Murthy is responsible for stills, while SK Naidu and Phani Kandukuri of Beyond Media handle publicity.
Pocket Rockets adds to the feature-film slate of Pink Elephant Pictures, the production banner founded by Niharika Konidela. The banner’s theatrical production Committee Kurrollu, directed by Yadhu Vamsi, won Best Telugu Film at the 72nd National Film Awards, marking a significant milestone in its journey from digital storytelling and OTT productions to theatrical cinema.
With filming completed, "Pocket Rockets" is currently in post-production. The makers are expected to announce the release date and further details about the film soon.
