It’s well known that Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Shiva created a storm at the box office 36 years ago. The film revolutionized Telugu cinema with its realistic action, sound design, and visual style, inspiring an entire generation of young audiences. It also marked Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial debut, introducing cinematic techniques that were far ahead of their time.
As Shiva 4K is set for re-release on November 14, RGV shared an emotional post on social media recalling an incident from the original shoot. He posted a photo of Sushma Anand, who played Nagarjuna’s sister as a child actress in Shiva, and issued a heartfelt apology to her.
In the post, RGV explained that during a high-speed chase sequence—where Nagarjuna rides a bicycle with a little girl seated in front while being chased by goons. Sushma, who was just a small child then, was terrified during the shoot. RGV admitted - "please accept my sincere apologies after 36 years for subjecting you to such a traumatic experience which I dint realise at that time ..The directorial greed in me took over in being blinded to subjecting a little girl like you to such risky shots ..I apologise once again".
Tagging her current profile, he wrote that he now realizes how selfish and insensitive he had been at that time, and sincerely apologized to her.
Interestingly, Sushma Anand, the same child actress from Shiva, is now based in the United States, pursuing research in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science.
