SS Rajamouli has flown to Mumbai today to discuss with the partners (people who release the film in other languages) and came out with a decision to postpone the film RRR. RRR is supposed to release on 7 January. However, the rising cases of omicron and subsequent actions resulting in closure (Delhi) or 50% occupancy (Maharashtra, Kerala & Tamilnadu) has forced the team of RRR to come up with an unpopular decision of postponing the film.

The unit of RRR has been aggressively promoting the movie all over India. They released a theatrical trailer on 9 December. Since then they have held a main event each in Mumbai, Chennai and Kerala. They have attended all major shows in Bollywood. Just when things seemed so much ramped up for an extraordinary release, they had to take the sad decision to postpone RRR.

They had promoted the film till yesterday night. They released an excellent song Rise of Ram at 9 pm. They had telecasted the much-talked about Mumbai pre release event which had Salman Khan as guest at 11 pm as a part of new year celebrations for the fans on the night of 31 December.

However, rumors of postponement started circulating on twitter around midnight.

This news has sent shockwaves not only to the movie lovers and also to the distributors and exhibitors who had invested in the film.
