The principal cast of Nithiin-starrer Thammudu, which was launched recently in Hyderabad, has fallen in place. With the film set to go on floors from Friday in Hyderabad, director Sriram Venu has got popular actors on board for the film.

A source close to the unit informs us exclusively, “Sapthami Gowda, who turned heads with her layered performance as a forest guard in Rishab Shetty’s last year monster hit Kantara, has been roped in as the leading lady and a photo shoot to this effect was done earlier this week in Hyderabad. Like Venu’s earlier films, the female lead in Thammudu has got a lot of scope for performance and it is the reason why Sapthami, who is choosy with her assignments, hopped on board. The fact that she will be making her Telugu debut was an added bonus.”

The source adds, “Sapthami aside, the film will also see popular actress in the aughts, Laya, in a very crucial role. Her character’s weight and its overall prominence in the narrative made the Vijayawada-born and US-settled actress to sign on the dotted line. The film will be a true comeback of sorts for her despite the fact that she was seen in a cameo in Ravi Teja-starrer Amar Akbar Anthony (2018).”

Renowned director of cinematography, Sethu (Satyajit Pande), who worked for acclaimed films like Dangal, Kahaani and Taare Zameen Par is debuting in Telugu with Thammudu, which is a production venture of Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations.

With power star Pawan Kalyan’s iconic title and the fact that it is Venu’s next after Vakeel Saab means there is considerable buzz surrounding Thammudu both in the trade and in the audience.
