Sri Chidambaram is produced by Chinta Vineesh Reddy and Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy under the Sri Chakras Entertainment banner, presented by Mrs. Chinta Varalakshmi, with Chinta Rajasekhar Reddy as co-producer. Vamsi Thummala and Sandhya Vasishta play the lead pair. Through this film, Vinay Ratnam is being introduced as a director. The movie will be released on February 6. On this occasion, director Vinay Ratnam spoke with the media on Tuesday. Here are the highlights.

Why did you want to tell the story of “Sri Chidambaram Garu”?
This presentation focuses more on people who feel inferior complex and insecurities and are unable to lead their lives confidently. They compare themselves with others and feel bad about not having what others have. I felt this is the right time to tell such a story. So I wanted to present it with sensitive emotions.

What theme are you dealing with through this story?
Standing in front of a mirror, we should first believe that we are good enough. To love another person, you must first love yourself. That is the core message of this story.

What is your background? How did you get this movie opportunity?
I made 25 short films. I am from Rajahmundry. I made a short film for film festivals presented by Niharika Konidela. This is my first theatrical film. Initially, we started this movie with crowdfunding. Later, producer Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy liked the story and produced it.

How were the artists selected for this movie?
The role of Chidambaram in this film has to be performed in single takes. From the beginning, I wanted Vamsi as the hero. It’s not easy to perform this role with a slow/blinking eye — it needs a lot of practice. For the rest of the artists, we conducted auditions in East Godavari and Rajahmundry for natural performances and selected local people. Everyone was chosen through workshops.

How is the response to the premieres of this movie?
Everyone who watched the film said it felt very fresh. They are comparing it with C/o Kancharapalem and Pelli Choopulu. I learned from those movies, so I feel happy when my film is compared with them.

How much entertainment does this movie have?
This is not a full entertainment movie. It is a pure emotional journey. However, it has clean comedy that doesn’t offend anyone.

Did you meet people like Sri Chidambaram in real life?
Yes, I have seen many friends who feel insecure. They inspired this story. Even now, I have a friend named Jayanth who lives in the US. He doesn’t go out much and doesn’t trouble anyone. Seeing him inspired me to tell this story.

How is the music in this movie?
Music is like life to this film. There are five songs. Along with a song sung by Keeravani, all songs are good and help narrate the story. The background score is also very good.

The visuals look like they were shot in Kerala?
We shot in 32 days in locations without proper transport facilities. The shooting was done in Andhra Pradesh. Many people think it was shot in Kerala. I don’t know how to take that compliment. Andhra Pradesh has many beautiful locations; we just need to use them.

Is there a chance that the hero’s character might hurt some people’s sentiments?
Through this movie, I learned how to handle everything. No one’s sentiments will be hurt after watching this film. Instead, their emotions will feel satisfied.

What is the justification behind the title “Sri Chidambaram Garu”?
In East Godavari, people sometimes tease those with a slow eye by calling them “Chidambaram.” In this movie too, the hero is called Chidambaram so much that people forget his original name. Later, after understanding the story, people gain respect for the character and call him “Sri Chidambaram.” After watching the final copy, we added more respect and named it “Sri Chidambaram Garu.”

శ్రీ చిదంబరం గారు సినిమాతో వాళ్ల మనోభావాలు సంతృప్తి చెందుతాయి: దర్శకుడు వినయ్‌ రత్నం

శ్రీమతి. చింతా వరలక్ష్మీ సమర్పణలో శ్రీ చక్రాస్ ఎంటర్టైన్మెంట్ బ్యానర్ మీద చింతా వినీష రెడ్డి, చింతా గోపాల కృష్ణా రెడ్డి నిర్మాతలుగా చింతా రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి సహ నిర్మాతగా రూపొందిన ‘శ్రీ చిదంబరం’. వంశీ తుమ్మల, సంధ్యా వశిష్ట జంటగా నటించిన ఈ చిత్రం ద్వారా వినయ్ రత్నం దర్శకుడిగా పరిచయమవుతున్నారు. ఫిబ్రవరి 6న ఈ చిత్రం ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు రానుంది. ఈసందర్భంగా దర్శకుడు వినయ్‌ రత్నం మంగళవారం పాత్రికేయులతో ముచ్చటించాడు. ఆ విశేషాలివి.

'శ్రీ చిదంబరం గారు' అనే ఈ కథ ఎందుకు చెప్పాలనుకున్నారు?
ఈ ప్రజెంటేషన్‌ మోర్‌ ఇన్‌ఫరియట్‌ కాంప్లక్స్‌, ఇన్‌సెక్యూరిటీస్‌తో ఫీలవుతూ వాళ్ల లైఫ్‌ను కాన్పిడెంట్‌గా లీడ్‌ చేయాలేకపోతున్నారు. పక్కవాళ్లకు ఉన్నవి చూసి మనకు అవి లేవు కదా అని కంపేర్‌ చేసుకుంటున్నారు. ఈ టైమ్‌లో చెప్పాల్సిన కథ అనిపించింది. అందుకే ఇలాంటి కథను సున్నితమైన భావోద్వేగాలతో చెప్పాలని అనుకున్నాను.

ఈ కథ ద్వారా మీరు ఎలాంటి అంశాన్ని డీల్‌ చేస్తున్నారు?
అద్దంలో నిలబడి మనల్ని మనం చూసుకుని మనం బాగున్నామని ముందు మనం నమ్మాలి. ఒక మనిషిని నువ్వు ప్రేమించగలగాలి అంటే మొదట నిన్ను నువ్వు ప్రేమించాలి అనేది ఈ కథ సారాంశం.

మీ నేపథ్యం ఏమిటి:? ఈ సినిమా అవకాశం ఎలా వచ్చింది?
25 షార్ట్‌ ఫిల్మ్‌ చేశాను. రాజమండ్రి మాది. నిహారిక కొణిదెల గారి సమర్పణలో ఫిల్మ్‌ ఫెస్టివల్స్‌ కోసం ఓ షార్ట్‌ ఫిల్మ్‌చేశాను. థియేట్రికల్‌గా ఇది మొదటి సినిమా. మొదట ఈ సినిమా క్రౌడ్‌ ఫండింగ్‌తో స్టార్ట్‌ చేశాము. ఆ తరువాత నిర్మాత చింతా గోపాల కృష్టారెడ్డి గారి ఈ కథ నచ్చి ప్రొడ్యూస్‌ చేశాడు.

ఈసినిమాలో ఆర్టిస్టుల ఎంపిక ఎలా జరిగింది?
ఈ సినిమాలో చిదంబరం అనే పాత్రకు సింగిల్‌ టేక్‌లో ప్లే చేయాలి. ఈ కథ అనుకున్నప్పుడే వంశీని హీరోగా అనుకున్నాను. మెల్ల కన్నుతో ఈ పాత్ర చేయడం అంతా ఈజీ కాదు .దానికి చాలా ప్రాక్టిస్‌ కావాలి. ఇక మిగతా ఆర్టిస్టులందరిని ఈస్ట్‌ గోదావరిలో అడిషన్‌ తీసుకుని, నేచురాలిటి కోసం రాజమండ్రిలో అడిషన్‌ తీసుకుని అక్కడి వాళ్లనే తీసకున్నాను. అందర్ని వర్క్‌షాప్‌ ద్వారానే తీసుకున్నాను.

ఈ సినిమా ప్రీమియర్స్‌కు ఎలా స్పందన వస్తోంది?
సినిమా చూసిన వాళ్లందరూ చాలా ఫ్రెష్‌ సినిమా చూశామని అన్నారు. కేరాఫ్‌ కంచరపాలెం , పెళ్లి చూపులు సినిమాతో కంపేర్‌ చేస్తున్నారు. నేను ఈ సినిమాలు చూసి నేర్చుకున్నాను. ఆ సినిమాలతో నా సినిమాను పోల్చడం ఆనందంగా ఉంది.

ఈ సినిమాలో వినోదానికి ఎంత వరకు స్కోప్‌ ఉంది?
ఇది పూర్తిస్థాయి వినోదాత్మక చిత్రం కాదు. ప్యూర్‌ ఎమోషనల్‌ జర్నీ ఇది. కాకపోతే ఈ సినిమాలో ఎవ్వరిని ఇబ్బంది పెట్టని క్లీన్‌ కామెడీ ఉంటుంది.

మీ రియల్‌లైఫ్‌లో శ్రీ చిదంబరం గారు పాత్ర తరహా మనుషులు తారసపడ్డారా?
చాలా మంది స్నేహితులని చూశాను. ఇన్‌సెక్యూర్‌డ్‌గా ఫీలవుతున్న వాళ్లందరు ఈ సినిమా కథకు ఇన్‌స్పిరేషన్‌. ఇప్పటికీ నా స్నేహితుడు జయంత్‌. యూఎస్‌లో ఉంటాడు. వాడు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్లడు. ఎవ్వరిని ఇబ్బందిపెట్టాడు. వాడ్ని చూసి ఈ కథ చెప్పాలని అనిపించింది.

ఈ సినిమాలో సంగీతం ఎలా ఉంటుంది?
ఈ సినిమాకు మ్యూజిక్‌ ఎంతో ప్రాణం. అయిదు పాటలు ఉంటాయి. కీరవాణి గారు పాడిన పాటతో పాటు అన్ని పాటలు బాగుంటాయి. అన్ని పాటలు కథను చెబుతాయి. బ్యాక్‌గ్రౌండ్‌ స్కోర్‌ చాలా బాగుంటుంది.

విజువల్స్‌ చూస్తుంటే కేరళలో చిత్రీకరణ చేశారని అనిపిస్తుంది?
షూటింగ్‌ లోకేషన్స్‌ 32 డేస్‌లో చేశాం. ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్ట్‌ సరిగ్గా లేని లోకేషన్స్‌లో చిత్రీకరణ చేశాం. ఇది ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో చిత్రీకరణ చేశాం. కేరళలో చిత్రీకరణ చేశారా? అని అందరూ అంటున్నారు. ఈ కాంప్లిమెంట్‌ను నేను ఎలా తీసుకోవాలో అర్థం కావట్లేదు. ఏపీలో చాలా మంచి లోకేషన్స్‌ చాలా మంచివి ఉన్నాయి. మనం వాడుకోవాలి అంతే.

ఈ సినిమా హీరో పాత్ర కొందరి మనోభావాలు దెబ్బతీసే అవకాశం ఉంది కదా?
ఈ సినిమాతో అన్ని హ్యాండిల్‌ చేయడం నేర్చుకున్నాను. ఈ సినిమా చూసిన ఎవ్వరికి మనోభావాలు దెబ్బతీనవు. వాళ్ల మనోభావాలు సంతృప్తి పొందుతాయి.

శ్రీ చిదంబరం గారు అనే టైటిల్‌ జస్టిఫికేషన్‌ ఏమిటి?

మెల్లకన్ను ఉన్నా వాళ్లను ఈస్ట్‌ గోదావరిలో చిదంబరం అని ఏడిపిస్తుంటారు. ఈ సినిమాలో కూడా హీరోని చిదంబరం అని పిలిచి పిలిచి అతన్ని వర్జినల్‌ పేరు కూడా మరిచిపోతాడు సినిమాలో ఇక కథ విన్న తరువాత పాత్ర మీద రెస్పక్ట్‌ పెరిగి శ్రీ చిదంబరం అన్నాం. ఫైనల్‌ కాపీ చూసుకున్న తరువాత మరింత మర్యాద పెరిగి శ్రీ చిదంబరం గారు అని పెట్టాం.
