While the year might not have started with a bang for them as Guntur Kaaram, fronted by superstar Mahesh Babu, failed to live up to the expectations, Sithara Entertainments, in association with Fortune Four Cinemas and Srikara Studios, made amends with projects like Tillu Square and Lucky Baskhar, which cast a spell at the box office. In between they also had a release, Gangs of Godavari, headlined by Vishwak Sen; it might not have set the box office on fire after the first weekend, but still was a profitable venture for them. Add to the fact they distributed Jr NTR-starrer Devara in the Telugu states earlier this September, Sithara had a great 2024.
As things stand, 2025 will be more hectic for the production house. They will kick off the year with the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna-headlined Daaku Maharaaj for Sankranti. Although they slotted Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Magic for Christmas this year, there's been no chatter about the film for quite some time, indicating that its release hangs in the balance. After Daaku, the production has #VD12 lined up for release in late March. But in between there might be a chance for them to roll out Magic or Allari Naresh’s next with Family Drama director Meher Tej.
In production is mass maharaja Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, marking the directorial debut of writer Bhanu Bhogavarapu. Presently on a schedule break, it is set to bow in theatres on May 9, 2025. There is the anticipated MAD Square as well, with Narne Nithiin, Ram Nithin and Sangeeth Sobhan reprising their parts. Also on sets in the US is YouTuber Udhbav Raghu’s directorial, which is a quirky tale of youngsters caught between dreams and reality that leads to discovering themselves. It features Ashok Galla, Shivathmika, Sri Gouri Priya and Rahul Vijay in the lead roles.
In pre-production are other projects like KV Anudeep’s next with Vishwak Sen, Anand Deverakonda’s next with his Middle Class Melodies director Vinod Anantoju, Anand Deverakonda’s next with 90s-A Middle Class biopic fame Aditya Haasan and Sree Vishnu’s next with Swathi Muthyam director Lakshman K Krishna. In addition to these projects, Naga Vamsi has also lined up Jr NTR’s next with Jailer fame Nelson and Rishab Shetty’s next with Aswin Gangaraju of Aakasavani fame. These two will be set on a massive scale. Venky Atluri, who has become an in-house director for Vamsi, will be making his next as well for Sithara, while HIT series helmer Sailesh Kolanu too has a commitment with Sithara. Overall, it is obvious that the banner is producing films by the dozen. With Vamsi’s knack of picking the right content and his production house’s track record of not compromising on the budgets means Sithara is set for another glorious run next year as well.
