The makers of Spark, featuring Vikranth, Mehreen Pirzada, and Rukshar Dhillon in the lead roles, on Saturday unveiled the film’s trailer. “Bringing you a wave of thrilling and captivating experience,” they wrote, dropping the trailer.
Playing out over two minutes and 35 seconds, the trailer begins with Mehreen Pirzada, in a scenic waterfall backdrop, asking her grandmother whether dreams will come true. She is head over heels in love with Jai (Vikranth) while the latter is swept off his feet by Rukshar Dhillon after seeing her at a bus bay. He wastes no time in proposing to Rukshar. At the same time, he also courts Mehreen. He has a couple of friends–Vennela Kishore and Satya–who amp up the humour quotient in the film. But soon the trailer reveals a dark and hidden side of Jai. He seems to be targeting women with a specific purpose, which the film’s team hides. At the same time cops are on the hunt for a killer who has committed mass murders. “This case is not as simple as we thought,” cop Brahmaji tells a colleague of his. Soon the cops put Jai behind bars and give him a thrashing. The plot then lands in a potpourri of politics, bureaucracy and emotions as military personnel are involved, while we get a first glimpse of the villain Guru Somasundaram who is introduced with the dialogue, “terror begins”. It ends with Jai pinning down his adversaries while stating that the war hasn’t ended yet.
In conclusion, Spark trailer makes a sparkling debut, promising a romantic thriller sprinkled with slick action, high production values and a mysterious leading man who holds his bag of tricks until the end. Hesham Abdul Wahab’s background score adds to the edginess of the action-packed trailer.
For the film, Vikranth has also doubled up as a story and screenplay writer. Also featuring Nasser, Vennela Kishore, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Satya, Brahmaji, Srikanth Ayyangar, Annapurnamma and Raja Ravindra, Spark is slated to release in five languages –Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam – on November 17th.
