Decorated filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is notching up award after award for RRR in the West, has spoken about his next with superstar Mahesh Babu multiple times in the recent past. With the director signing with American talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) last September, there were murmurs that some major Hollywood studios are interested in collaborating with the director for SSMB29. Now, speaking about what CAA is bringing to the table, Rajamouli, in a latest conversation with Hollywood scribes, said, “Much before the success of RRR in the West, I already announced my next film with Mahesh Babu. It’s a project which has been pending for the last 10 years. I’m in the process of writing it. It’s a global adventure. There are many ways the film can be made. I signed with CAA and they are putting me with some very good people who understand world cinema and who are passionate about films. I’m quite happy meeting and talking with a lot of them. In one of the conversations, we spoke about how filmmaking in India is different to that of filmmaking in the US. Yeah, there is still some time to figure out how to do, what to do.”
Shedding more light about the project, Rajamouli, last November, had said: “Indiana Jones is one of my all-time favourite movies. And I want to do something like Indiana Jones and Dan Brown’s kind of novels. I love them (the latter). (We) are thinking of figuring out something in that space.”
The untitled film will be a production venture of KL Narayana’s Durga Arts and will get off the ground in the second half of this year. MM Keeravani will be continuing his long-standing association with Rajamouli on this film’s music as well.
