Actress Samanatha dropped the trailer of her maiden production venture, Subham, on Sunday and it will definitely make you want to watch the film, as it promises a no-holds barred comedy entertainer.

Approximately three minutes in length, the trailer opens with a newly-wed Harshith Reddy explaining to his friends (played by Srinivas Gavireddy and Charan Peri) how he asks for a coffee from his wife Valli. His friends, however, laugh at Harshith’s situation and explain how dominant they are over their respective wives, much to the shock of Harshith. The trailer later cuts to Valli watching a serial at 9 pm everyday and Harshith noticing strange things in her behavior as she is hooked to the idiot box. Valli doesn’t heed to him during the show and out of frustration, one day he switches off the TV. Lo and behold, there’s a sudden transformation in Valli, which scares the hell out of Harshith. Turns out, it’s not just his problem alone; his friends and entire men in the neighborhood too are experiencing the same problem at their homes. Left with no option, they seek the help of a matha (played by Samantha) for their assistance. Will she bail out them or not seems to form the rest of the story.

In conclusion, the trailer establishes the premise well, which itself is rare and funny, eliciting a ton of laughs. The situations the lead men actors see themselves in, is amusing and the young actors’ amp up chuckles with their chemistry and helplessness, assuring loads of laughter with a good measure of chaos thrown in. It’s good to see Sam in a prominent supporting turn after a while and the skilled actress she is, we betcha she will also induce plenty of laughs, while maintaining a serious face. The production values are decent, while the background score by Vivek Sagar complements the theme of the film well.

Also featuring Shriya Kontham, Shravani Lakshmi, Shalini Kondepudi and Vamshidhar Goud, Subham, directed by Praveen Kandregula, sails into cinemas on May 9th. Vasanth Maringanti has written the film, for which Bollywood heavyweight Raj Nidimoru is serving as the creative producer.
