Thug Life stands out as one of the most eagerly awaited Pan-India releases, bringing together two cinematic powerhouses- Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and visionary filmmaker Mani Ratnam- for the first time in over three decades. Their previous collaboration, the iconic Nayakudu, left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, and expectations are sky-high for this long-overdue reunion. Set against the gritty backdrop of the gangster underworld, Thug Life promises a gripping narrative filled with intense drama and raw emotion. Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of actor Simbu, who plays a significant and powerful role that is expected to add depth and dynamism to the story. The movie also stars Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Joju George in important roles.

The magical combination of two legends Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam has music by AR Rahman, and the first single, Jinguchaa, bursts forth as a vibrant wedding anthem—an all-out celebration wrapped in rhythm and joy. Rahman brings his signature brilliance to the track, blending contemporary sounds with traditional flair to create an energetic and immersive musical experience. The song is brought to life by the spirited vocals of Mangli, Sri Krishna, Aashima Mahajan, and Vaishali Samant, while Anantha Sriram’s lively lyrics perfectly complement the celebratory vibe. Jinguchaa is a jubilant showcase of sound, movement, and cultural richness.

Visually, the song is a feast. Kamal Haasan brings his timeless charm, while Sanya Malhotra emerges as a revelation with her electrifying dance moves and captivating presence. The choreography bursts with color and vitality, seamlessly complementing the music’s high-spirited vibe. STR, Trisha, and others also appear, adding to the ensemble energy.

The film has cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, editing by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Sharmishta Roy, and stunts by Anbariv.

Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R Mahendran, and Siva Ananth are producing the movie under their banners Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies presents the film. N Sudhakar Reddy of Sreshth Movies is bringing the movie for the Telugu audiences. The distribution house delivered blockbusters with their last films such as Vikram and Amaran. The movie is set for release on June 5th.
