The Tollywood Pro League was launched in grand style by the legendary cricketers Kapil Dev, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, and producer Dil Raju.

It is well known that for Indians, cricket and cinema are the biggest sources of entertainment. Both share an unbreakable bond. Keeping this in mind, actor Vamsi Chaganti — who has earned a strong identity as a performer — joined hands with EBG Group’s Irfan Khan and Hari to establish the Tollywood Pro League. The launch celebrations were held magnificently at the Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad. The event was graced by iconic cricketers Kapil Dev, Virender Sehwag, and Suresh Raina as chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Tollywood Pro League co-founder Vamsi Chaganti said:
“Till now, we have only seen stars playing cricket. But what if people working across the 24 crafts of the film industry set aside their positions and play cricket together? That thought gave birth to this Tollywood Pro League. Once, while playing cricket with the police department, I saw Police Boss C.V. Anand garu and constable Loknath Naik open the batting together. They played brilliantly with great coordination. The image of that game — where they set aside ranks and played as equals — stayed with me. That’s when I realized that many talented cricket players work across different departments in our film industry too. When I shared this idea with Dil Raju garu, he instantly encouraged me saying, ‘Great idea, Vamsi. You execute it. I’m right behind you.’ Once Raju garu said ‘Go ahead’, I didn’t think twice. I immediately shared this concept with EBG Group MD Irfan Khan and Hari. They stepped forward, supported the vision, and cooperated immensely in turning this into a big reality. This cricket battle will take place for 5 days on February 13, 14, 15, 21, and 22 at Uppal Stadium. Six teams will participate, and prominent Tollywood production houses will act as team owners. Who those producers are will remain a suspense for now.”
Tollywood Pro League organizers Irfan Khan and Hari said:
“If your support continues like this, our company EBG will take such leagues across India. A portion of the revenue generated through this cricket league will be handed over for welfare activities by Dil Raju garu, who is also the FDC Chairman.”
Dil Raju said:
“The name may be Tollywood Pro League, but in my view, this feels like a Telugu cinema ‘Alai–Balai’ as per Telangana tradition. The moment Vamsi came and shared this idea, it felt wonderful. I will take this Tollywood cricket league forward and make it a success no matter what.”
The Tollywood Pro League logo, jerseys, and winners’ cup were unveiled by Kapil Dev, Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Dil Raju, music director Thaman, Irfan Khan, Sonu Sood, Raashi Khanna, Hari, and others. Directors Anil Ravipudi, Prashanth Varma, Omkar, and Sailesh Kolanu appreciated the concept and said:
“The very idea of playing cricket together across 24 crafts of the film industry is amazing. All players from 24 departments — be ready. Let’s smash it!” Sailesh Kolanu’s cricket ad video was also released at the event.
Producers TG Vishwa Prasad (People’s Media Factory), Rajeev Reddy (First Frame Entertainment), Naga Vamsi (Sithara Entertainments), Sahu Garapati (Shine Screen), Bapineedu (SVCC), along with actors Ashwin Babu, Qayyum, Harsha Chemudu, Murali Sharma, Ashish Vidyarthi, Dino Morea, and nearly 150 talented cricket players representing the 24 crafts of the film industry took part in the celebration. The entire team of the film Committee Kurrollu, including director Yadhu Vamsi, also attended the event.

టాలీవుడ్ ప్రో లీగ్ ఫౌండర్స్లో ఒకరైన వంశీ చాగంటి మాట్లాడుతూ–‘‘ స్టార్స్ మాత్రమే క్రికెట్ ఆడటం ఇప్పటివరకు మనందరం చూశాం. సినిమా పరిశ్రమ 24 శాఖల్లోని పనిచేసే ఎవరైనాసరే వారి పోస్ట్లను పక్కనపెట్టి అందరూ కలిసి క్రికెట్ ఆడితే ఎలా ఉంటుంది? అనే ఆలోచన నుండి పుట్టిందే మా ఈ టాలీవుడ్ ప్రో లీగ్. ఒకసారి పోలీస్ డిపార్ట్మెంట్ వారితో కలిసి క్రికెట్ ఆడుతున్నప్పుడు ఓపెనెర్లుగా పోలీస్ బాస్ సి.వి ఆనంద్గారు,కానిస్టేబుల్ లోక్నా«ద్ నాయక్తో కలిసి బ్యాటింగ్కు వచ్చి చక్కటి సమన్వయంతో ఇద్దరు ఎంతో గొప్పగా ఆడారు. ఆరోజు వారి పోస్ట్లను పక్కనపెట్టి వారిద్దరు కలిసి ఆడిన క్రికెట్ ఆటే నా మదిలో నిలిచిపోయింది . అప్పుడనిపించింది మన ఇండస్ట్రీలో కూడా అనేక శాఖల్లో పనిచేసే ఎంతోమంది క్రికెట్ను బాగా ఆడతారు. వాళ్లందరిని ఒక తాటిపైకి తీసుకువస్తే బావుంటుంది అనే ఐడియాను ‘దిల్’ రాజుగారికి చెప్పగానే మంచి ఐడియా వంశీ దీన్ని నువ్వు ఎగ్జిక్యూట్ చేయ్ నీ వెనక నేనున్నాను అంటూ అభయమిచ్చారు. రాజు గారు గోహెడ్ అనగానే నేను ఇంకేం ఆలోచించలేదు. వెంటనే ఈ ఐడియాను ఈబిజీ గ్రూప్ యండి ఇర్ఫాన్ఖాన్గారికి, హరికి చెప్పాను. వాళ్లు మంచి ప్రోగ్రాం అవుతుంది అంటూ ముందుకు వచ్చి ఇంత గొప్ప ప్రోగ్రాం చేయటానికి ఎంతో సహకరించారు. ఫిబ్రవరి 13,14,15, 21,22 తేదిల్లో ఐదురోజుల పాటు జరిగే ఈ క్రికెట్ సమరం ఉప్పల్ స్టేడియంలో జరగనుంది. ఈ పోటీల్లో ఆరు టీమ్లు పాల్గొంటాయి. ఆరు టీమ్లకు టాలీవుడ్లోని ప్రముఖ నిర్మాణ సంస్థలు ఓనర్స్గా వ్యవహరిస్తాయి. ఆ నిర్మాతలు ఎవరు అనేది ప్రస్తుతానికి సస్పెన్స్’’ అన్నారు. టాలీవుడ్ ప్రో లీగ్ నిర్వాహకులు ఇర్ఫాన్ఖాన్, హరి మాట్లాడుతూ–‘‘ మీ అందరి సహకారం ఇలాగే కొనసాగితే భారతదేశమంతటా ఇలాంటి లీగ్లను మా కంపెనీ ఈబిజి కొనసాగిస్తుంది. ఈ క్రికెట్ లీగ్ ద్వారా వచ్చే ఆదాయంలో కొంత భాగాన్ని ఎఫ్డిసి చైర్మెన్ ‘దిల్’ రాజు చేతుల మీదుగా సేవా ( వెల్ఫేర్ )కార్యక్రమాలకు అందిస్తాం’’ అన్నారు. దిల్ రాజు మాట్లాడుతూ–‘‘ ఈ లీగ్ పేరు టాలీవుడ్ ప్రో లీగే కానీ నా ఉద్ధేశ్యంలో మాత్రం తెలంగాణా సంప్రదాయం ప్రకారం ఇది తెలుగు సినిమా అలయ్–బలయ్గా ఫీలవుతున్నా. వంశీ వచ్చి ఈ ఐడియా చెప్పగానే ఎంతో మంచిగా అనిపించింది. ఎలాగైనా సరే ఈ టాలీవుడ్ క్రికెట్ లీగ్ను ముందుకు తీసుకువెళ్లి సక్సెస్ చేస్తాను’’ అన్నారు. టాలీవుడ్ ప్రో లీగ్ లోగోను, జెర్సీలను, విన్నర్స్ కప్ను కపిల్, సెహ్వాగ్, సురేశ్రైనా, దిల్ రాజు, సంగీత దర్శకుడు తమన్, ఇర్ఫాన్ ఖాన్, సోనూసు«ద్, రాశీఖన్నా, హరి చేతుల మీదుగా విడుదల చేశారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి హాజరైన దర్శకులు అనిల్ రావిపూడి, ప్రశాంత్ వర్మ, శైలేష్ కొలను, ఓంకార్ మాట్లాడుతూ– ‘‘ చిత్ర పరిశ్రమలోని అందరితో కలిసి క్రికెట్ ఆడాలి అనే ఆలోచనే భలే ఉంది. 24 శాఖల్లోని క్రికెటర్లందరూ రెడీగా ఉండండి..ఇరగదీద్దాం’’ అంటూ శైలేష్ కొలను నటించిన క్రికెట్ యాడ్ వీడియోను విడుదల చేశారు’’. నిర్మాతలు పీపుల్స్ మీడియా ఫ్యాక్టరీ టి.జి విశ్వప్రసాద్, ఫస్ట్ఫ్రేమ్ ఎంటర్టైన్మెంట్ రాజీవ్రెడ్డి, ‘సితార’ నాగవంశీ, షైన్ స్క్రీన్ సాహు గారపాటి, ఎస్వీసిసి బాపినీడులతో పాటు నటులు అశ్విన్బాబు, ఖయ్యూం, హర్ష చెముడు ‘కమిటీ కుర్రోళ్లు’ సినిమా దర్శకుడు యధు వంశీతో పాటు ఆ సినిమా టీమంతా ఈ వేడుకలో పాల్గొన్నారు. నటులు మురళీశర్మ, ఆశిశ్ విధ్యార్ధి, డినో మోరియాలతో పాటు 24 శాఖల్లోని వివిధ విభాగాల్లో క్రికెట్ ఆడే దాదాపు 150 మంది ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో పాల్గొన్నారు.
