After the sensational success of Gabbar Singh, Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Cult Captain Harish Shankar have teamed up once again for the film Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The movie is being produced prestigiously under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar.

The film stars Raashii Khanna and Sreeleela as the female leads. Music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, while the background score is handled by S. Thaman.

The songs, teaser, and trailer released so far have received a tremendous response and created huge expectations for the film. With expectations soaring high, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is set to release in theatres on March 19, coinciding with Ugadi.

In this context, actress Raashii Khanna recently interacted with the media and shared several insights about the film.

How is life for you right now? How did you come on board for this project?
My life is very busy right now. To be honest, the moment I heard that it was Pawan Kalyan Garu’s film, I immediately said yes with great excitement—even before listening to the story. Ever since I did my first film, I had heard a lot about his stardom and the phenomenon called Pawanism. From then on, I wished to act with him at least once. With Ustaad Bhagat Singh, that dream has come true.

What kind of role are you playing in this film?
My character’s name is Shloka. She is a very modern girl. In this film, every character has importance, and my role also has a strong characterization. I have a mass song in the film. Since I love dancing, I really enjoyed shooting for that song.

How was your experience working with Pawan Kalyan?
Pawan Garu is a very simple person. He is always seen reading books. There is an innocence about him that is hard to explain.
On the first day itself, he asked me, “Did you always want to become an actress?” I told him that I actually wanted to become an IAS officer. He speaks very little, but every word he says carries value. He encouraged me to do public service as well. Pawan Garu always thinks about the people. I learned a lot about humanity from him. At the Ustaad Bhagat Singh event, when I looked at his fans from the stage, it felt like they were worshipping him like a god.

What would you say about director Harish Shankar?
Harish Shankar Garu is very smart and understands the pulse of the mass audience extremely well. Usually, a shoot that takes 120 days was completed by him in just 40 days. He worked tirelessly for the film, even sacrificing sleep. During the shoot, he would often write punch dialogues right on the set. He has a lot of patience, and I learned a great deal from his dedication to cinema.

Did you feel your screen space might reduce since there are two heroines (you and Sreeleela)?
We actually don’t have scenes together. Each character has its own space and importance. My role also has good variations.

Since you had to work according to Pawan Kalyan’s dates, was it difficult to manage schedules?
Harish Garu had already told me that Pawan Kalyan Garu’s schedules could be unpredictable. I told him I would adjust accordingly.
Sometimes we even worked 24-hour shifts without distinguishing between day and night.

How was it working with Mythri Movie Makers?
They are producers who put their heart and soul into films. They never compromise on the budget and give complete freedom to the director. The working environment in the Mythri banner is excellent. I hope to do more films with them in the future.

What can audiences expect from Ustaad Bhagat Singh?
Just like Gabbar Singh, this film will also be very entertaining. It is a family film that everyone can watch together in theatres.
Since it is releasing during the Ugadi festival, I believe audiences will really enjoy it. Most importantly, you will get to see vintage Pawan Kalyan Garu on screen.

Can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Currently, I am working on a Hindi film with Akshay Kumar and also doing Farzi Season 2. I am also acting in an Amazon series where I play a Punjabi police officer, and all my dialogues are in Punjabi. In Tamil, I am doing a film titled Rowdy & Co. In Telugu as well, I am currently listening to a few scripts.

ప్రస్తుతం మీ జీవితం ఎలా ఉంది? ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్‌లోకి ఎలా వచ్చారు?
నా జీవితం ఇప్పుడు చాలా బిజీగా ఉంది. నిజం చెప్పాలంటే, పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారి సినిమా అనగానే కథ కూడా వినకుండా ఎంతో ఉత్సాహంతో వెంటనే ఓకే చెప్పేశాను. నేను నా మొదటి సినిమా చేస్తున్నప్పటి నుంచే, పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారి స్టార్డమ్ గురించి, పవనిజం గురించి విన్నాను. అప్పుడే ఆయనతో కలిసి ఒక్క సినిమా అయినా చేయాలి అనుకున్నాను. 'ఉస్తాద్ భగత్ సింగ్'తో నా కల నెరవేరింది.

ఈ సినిమాలో మీ పాత్ర ఎలా ఉంటుంది?
నా పాత్ర పేరు శ్లోక. తను చాలా మోడరన్ అమ్మాయి. సినిమాలో ప్రతి పాత్రకు ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంది. నా పాత్రకు కూడా మంచి క్యారెక్టరైజేషన్ ఉంటుంది. నాకు ఇందులో ఒక మాస్ సాంగ్ ఉంది. నాకు డ్యాన్స్ అంటే ఇష్టం కాబట్టి, ఆ సాంగ్ షూటింగ్ చాలా ఎంజాయ్ చేశాను.

పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారితో పని చేసిన అనుభవం ఎలా ఉంది?
పవన్ గారు చాలా సింపుల్ పర్సన్, ఎప్పుడూ పుస్తకాలు చదువుతూ కనిపిస్తారు. ఆయనలో ఒక తెలియని అమాయకత్వం ఉంది. మీరు నటి కావాలని ముందే అనుకున్నారా? అని మొదటిరోజే నన్ను అడిగారు. లేదు సార్, నేను ఐఏఎస్ ఆఫీసర్ కావాలనుకున్నానని ఆయనతో చెప్పాను. ఆయన తక్కువ మాట్లాడతారు.. కానీ, ప్రతి మాటలో విలువ ఉంటుంది. నాతో ప్రజా సేవ చేయమని చెప్పారు. పవన్ గారు ఎప్పుడూ ప్రజల గురించే ఆలోచిస్తారు. ఆయన నుంచి మానవత్వం నేర్చుకున్నాను. ఉస్తాద్ వేడుకలో స్టేజ్ మీద నుంచి పవన్ గారి అభిమానులను చూస్తుంటే, ఆయనను ఒక దేవుడిలా ఆరాధిస్తున్నట్లు అనిపించింది.

దర్శకుడు హరీష్ శంకర్ గారి గురించి ఏం చెప్తారు?
హరీష్ శంకర్ గారు చాలా స్మార్ట్. ఆయనకు మాస్ పల్స్ బాగా తెలుసు. సాధారణంగా 120 రోజులు పట్టే షూటింగ్‌ను ఆయన కేవలం 40 రోజుల్లోనే పూర్తి చేశారు. సరిగా నిద్ర కూడా పోకుండా సినిమా కోసం ఎంతో కష్టపడ్డారు. షూటింగ్ సమయంలో సెట్‌లోనే పంచ్‌ డైలాగ్స్ రాసి ఇస్తుంటారు. హరీష్ గారికి ఓపిక ఎక్కువ. సినిమా పట్ల ఆయన అంకితభావం చూసి చాలా నేర్చుకున్నాను.

ఇద్దరు హీరోయిన్లు (శ్రీలీల, మీరు) ఉండటం వల్ల స్క్రీన్ స్పేస్ తగ్గుతుందని అనిపించలేదా?
మా ఇద్దరికీ కలిసి సన్నివేశాలు లేవు. ప్రతి పాత్ర దేనికదే ప్రత్యేకంగా ఉంటుంది. నా పాత్రలో కూడా మంచి వేరియేషన్స్ ఉంటాయి.

పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారి డేట్స్ కి తగ్గట్టుగా మీరు డేట్స్ ఇవ్వాలి కదా.. ఏమైనా ఇబ్బంది పడ్డారా?
పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారి షెడ్యూల్స్ ఎలా ఉంటాయో చెప్పలేమని హరీష్ గారు ముందే చెప్పారు. అందుకు తగ్గట్టుగా నేను అడ్జస్ట్ చేసుకుంటాను అని చెప్పాను. కొన్నిసార్లు పగలు రాత్రి తేడా లేకుండా 24 గంటల షిఫ్టులు కూడా పని చేశాను.

మైత్రి మూవీ మేకర్స్ గురించి?
సినిమా కోసం ప్రాణం పెట్టే నిర్మాతలు వాళ్ళు. బడ్జెట్ విషయంలో రాజీ పడరు. దర్శకుడికి పూర్తి స్వేచ్ఛ ఇస్తారు. మైత్రి బ్యానర్ లో పని చేసే వాతావరణం చాలా బాగుంటుంది. ఆ బ్యానర్ లో మరిన్ని సినిమాలు చేసే అవకాశం రావాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను.

'ఉస్తాద్ భగత్ సింగ్' సినిమా ఎలా ఉండబోతుంది?
'గబ్బర్ సింగ్' లాగే ఈ సినిమా కూడా చాలా ఎంటర్టైనింగ్‌గా ఉంటుంది. ఇది ఒక ఫ్యామిలీ సినిమా, అందరూ కలిసి థియేటర్‌లో చూడొచ్చు. ఉగాది పండుగ సమయంలో వస్తున్న ఈ సినిమా అందరికీ నచ్చుతుందని ఆశిస్తున్నాను. వింటేజ్ పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారిని చూస్తారు.

మీ భవిష్యత్తు ప్రాజెక్టుల గురించి చెప్పండి?
ప్రస్తుతం హిందీలో అక్షయ్ కుమార్ గారితో ఒక సినిమా, 'ఫర్జీ 2' షో చేస్తున్నాను. అమెజాన్‌ సిరీస్ లో ఒక పంజాబీ పోలీస్ క్యారెక్టర్ చేస్తున్నాను, అందులో నా డైలాగ్స్ అన్నీ పంజాబీలోనే ఉంటాయి. తమిళ్ లో 'రౌడీ అండ్ కో' చేస్తున్నాను. తెలుగులో కూడా కొన్ని కథలు వింటున్నాను.
