The teaser of Utsavam, headlined by Dilip Prakash and Regina Cassandra alongside a bevy of heavyweight supporting actors, was released by the makers at an event in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The one-minute-39-second clip opens with a voiceover stating that an artist should die but art should never. It later cuts to LB Sriram’s part, saying that it's been 15 years since he played a role on stage. “As I put tilak on my forehead, the tears aren’t stopping,” he says, as Dilip sees the emotional side of it. Soon, there are flashes of various stage icons like Prakash Raj, Nasser, Brahmanandam, Ali, Raghubabu and Prema entering the narrative. The scene then shifts to Dilip Prakash’s romance with Regina and these portions seem to be shot in the picturesque locations of north India. While the director doesn’t give away much in terms of the plot, the teaser ends with Prakash Raj uttering: “I didn’t feel troubled playing multiple roles on stage but playing a human for two hours was difficult.”

Overall, the teaser seems to be celebrating theatre with various proven performers playing stage artists. The background score, in tune with the subject demand with a classical touch to it, is both pleasant and stirring. The pairing of Dilip and Regina looks fresh.

Also featuring Amani, Sudha, Brahmaji, Anish Kuruvilla and Priyadarshi, Utsavam, directed by Arjun Sai, is a production venture of Suresh Patil, while Anup Rubens is the composer.
