With the audience lapping up Virupaksha with bountiful glee, it continues to remain steady at the box office during weekdays as well. After hitting a half century with the collections on Monday, the film added another Rs 5 crore revenue to its kitty on Tuesday. The overall total now stands at Rs 55 crore in five days and at the pace with which it is going, it will remain steady this week and next week as well despite the stiff competition later this Friday. Especially the first and second shows of the film are reporting housefuls across both the Telugu states.
In the USA, where the collections are rock steady, it made close to $950k by midnight, emerging as Sai Dharam Tej’s biggest grosser there until date.
The film’s content, direction, background score, sound design and performances have come in for copious adulation from all corners.
Directed by Karthik Dandu, who earlier made the bummer Bham Bholenath, Virupaksha is a mystery thriller which narrates how Surya (Sai Tej) tries to thwart Rudravanam villagers being killed from evil forces. Sukumar has penned the film’s screenplay, while SVCC and Sukumar Writings jointly produced it. Kantara fame Ajaneesh Loknath has composed the music and background score.
