Story
Gowtam (Syed Sohel Ryan) is a popular tattoo artist in Hyderabad. Mahi (Roopa Koduvayur) is deeply in love with Gowtam. Both like each other, but Gowtam doesn’t want kids. They get married later and strangely Gowtam takes a decision to get himself pregnant through a medical procedure. Rest of the story is about why he did it and the social stigma he faced due to his decision.

Artists Performance

Rajinikanth: Syed Sohel Ryan has done a decent work as a street smart guy who later transforms into a pregnant man. It’s nice to see another Telugu girl Roopa Kodavayur getting opportunities in films. She looks good and performers well. Suhasini did a vital role of a doc. Viva Harsha is good as a friend. Raja Ravinder and Brahmaji are fine.

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is novel. This film tells us about the social stigma and practical difficulties when a man becomes a pregnant. However, the director who wanted to appeal to everybody has fallen into the trap of formula. The villain thread is formulaic and Brahmaji thread (trying to create problems in 2nd half) is also routine. This kind of storyline is usually done by Ayushman Khurana in Bollywood. A natural and organic style of story telling would have made this film a better one. But on the contrary, the director went for a regular way.

Other departments: Cinematography by Nizar Shafi is cool with sleek colours. Music by Shravan Bharadwaj is decent. Dialogues are okay. Editing by Prawin Pudi is fine. Production values by Mic Movies are good for this profile film.

Analysis: Mr Pregnant is a concept based film. However the director has chosen to treat it as a commercial film than a niche product so that there is something for every type of audiences. Hence it diluted the impact of unique concept. The production house should be appreciated for bringing an unique concept. There are some genuine emotions towards the end of the film which would be liked by family audiences. Despite of its faults, Mr Pregnant is a well intended film but falls short of the mark.
