He started his filmi career with the movie "JagathKhiladilu" which starred Superstar Krishna. But it could be embarrassing for you to learn that Rao Gopala Rao's voice was dubbed with some dubbing artiste because the film's crew thought that the voice was not suitable for films.

However, an unperturbed Rao Gopala Rao waited for an opportunity to prove himself. Opportunity came to him in the form of "Mosagallaku Mosagadu" starring Superstar Krishna in his famous cowboy role. The movie was a smash hit and Rao Gopala Rao never looked back. He was noticed in the movies Sharada, Manchimanushulu but his popularity touched its peak with the movie "Muthyala Muggu" directed by Bapu and produced by Ramana.
