Happy Days 50 days were celebrated in a grand scale in Dallas, USA. Several events were held as part of these “50 Happy Days” celebrations. Touring Talkies, Inc, an entertainment company (Production associate of Amigos Creations) and its media partner Radio Salaam Namaste 104.9 FM have organized these celebrations. Director Sekhar kammula, Main leads Sandesh and Sonia have participated in the celebrations.

Background:
Happy Days is a smash hit. Happy Days opened first in the U.S. on September 28th, 4 days before India release – a unique phenomenon for any Indian movie ever. In Dallas, Happy Days had the biggest opening ever for any Telugu movie in the U.S. In 50 days a phenomenal 7200+ people have seen Happy Days in Dallas. Bommarillu and Yamadonga have brought in about 4000 people which was the highest turn out for Telugu movies till Happy Days arrived in Dallas. The movies brought As a tribute to this response, Happy Days 50 days (overseas) was celebrated in Dallas on November 16th weekend.

Event1: 50 Happy Days – Public function
Time: 7:30 pm- 10:30 pm
Date: Friday Nov 16th, 2007
Venue: Carpenter Hall, Irving Arts Center
Attendance : 600+

This was an event that was open to pubic with a pre- registration. 70% of the seats were pre-booked online 3 weeks before the event and 30% was left open for the walk-ins.

Director Sekhar Kammula, Sandesh(chandu) and Sonia ( Shravs) arrived in a black stretch limo at 7:30 pm. There were cheers from waiting crowd and Sekhar’s team got a red carpet welcome. The Auditorium was decorated with Happy Days banners, colorful balloons which created the festive mood.

Highlights of the program:

• Soujanya sang “ yakundeku Tusharahaa” beautifully as the prayer song for this program which reminded audience madhu’s parayer song in happy days.
• Program began with a Music concert by Gana Gandharva Gangadhar and Singer Sarada. The audience enjoyed the concert with some pleasing songs from Sekhar’s films.
• Wonderful Dance medley for Happy days songs by Vandita Parekh’s team
• Felicitation of Sekhar Kamula and Star cast by Telugu association of North Texas (TANTEX). Sekhar Kammula was given honorary life membership of TANTEX for his contributions to Telugu cinema.
• Informal talk and Questions and answers session with Sekhar kammula, Chandu and Shravs.
• People enjoyed the simplicity of Sekhar and his team.
• Gangadhar presented the program and Crowd was cheering all the time during this 3 hour event.

Chandra Kanneganti welcomed the audience. Soujanya Sang prayer “ Yakundeku”. Gangadhar, Sarada’s concert was entertaining. Touring Talkies’ CEO Manohar Reddy, Radio Salaam Namaste’s CEO Jaipal Reddy, TANTEX President Elect Shyamala Rumalla, President Raja Reddy, Vice President Dr. Sridhar Korsapati, TANA Secretary Prasad Thotakura has participated in the felicitation of Happy Days team. Hollywood Theaters General Manager Mike Fron was awarded with a Happy Days memento for running Happy Days successfully for 50 days (3 shows every day for all 50 days). Touring Talkies thanked RK films for making Happy Days a big success overseas.

Sekhar thanked Dallas for giving Happy Days a big kick start in Dallas. He recalled the special relationship with Dallas and Godavari 50 days function held in Dallas a year ago. Sandesh enacted his audition scene in the stage and explained how he got selected through idlebrain. Every one laughed when Sonia answered ‘Juniors can not question seniors’ to a question from audience.

Sekhar and his team was accessible to every one and they mingled with the audience. It was an elegant evening with graceful audience and happy faces all around.

Event2: 50 Happy Days – 50 days special show – Meet & Greet and watch movie with Happy days team.

Happy Days team went to the theaters where Happy Days is being screened in 2 theaters. It was all Happy times with cake cutting, autographs, photo flashes. Sekhar, Sandesh and Sonia thanked audience for making Happy Days a big success.

Event 3: 50 Happy Days Balloon ride
Time: 8:00 AM – 10 AM
Date: Saturday Nov 17th, 2007
Venue: Mckenney, Texas

Happy Days team flew in 2 hot air balloons on Saturday morning. Vijay Sarathi, the energetic and proud dad of Sandesh has joined the flight. It was just a colorful, peaceful flight. One of its kind never happened in Telugu film history Happy Days celebrated their success in high in the sky. Touring Talkies celebrated Godavari 50 days on a yacht to represent boat journey in the movie. This time it was colorful balloon flight that represented happy mood in Happy days.
