Venky, son of the Movie Moghul Dr Ramanaidu, needs no introduction.
Venky's foray into films is an act of accident. Kaliyuga Pandavulu(1986),
his debutante film, made a splash at the box office. Films like
Swarna Kamalam(1988) and Prema(1989) showcased his
acting prowess in soft roles. His break as a full-fledged mass hero
came with Bobbili Raja(1990), a run away super hit. His role
as 'Chandu' in Kshnakshnam(1991) is a treat to watch
for the film lovers. His total outlook changed with the blockbuster
Chanti(1991) that rewrote the annals of Telugu Cinema box-office.
His portrayal as a lovely lecturer in 'Sundara Kanda'(1992)
              is amazing.
 Fueled by the
success of Chanti(1992), Venky tested the waters of Hindi
with 'Anari' that turned out to be instant hit. Pavitra
Bandham(1996), a film with a matured storyline was well received
by people. It was the year 1997 that changed the fortune of Venky
in the numbering system. With Preminchukundam Raa(1997) he
started his marathon at Box-office followed by five films. Venky is remembered
as a hero who added a new dimension to the thinking process and
the mind set of Telugu film industry. To his credit, he introduced
three directors (Jayant, Tirupathi Swamy and Udaya Shankar). Venky
is the top runner in holding many number of Nandi awards in the
              present generation. |
