True Film Festival for Telugu Cinema
Sankranthi(Pongal) is regarded as the true festival not only for
the farmers but also for Telugu cinema. As the number of releases
are coming down every year, our heroes are playing safe by releasing
their films very systematically at regular intervals. There by avoiding
clashes and appositions.
But this Sankranthi
2000 is going to witness the clash of four Titans. They are Annayya,
Postman, kalisundam Raa and Vamsoddarakudu. Though it looks funny
producers of Annayya and kalisundam Raa tried to play safe by releasing
their films on 1st Jan 2000 and 19th December 1999.
Due to Chiranjeevi's
commitment to his Hollywood extravaganza, picturization of 3 songs
is left for Annyya. They will be canned between 21st and 31st of
December. Though the date announced for it is 7th Jan.,2000, it
looks like Annayya will go for Pongal opening.
Suresh babu planned 'Kalisundam Raa' release with that of 'Preminchukundam
Raa' by placing it on 19th December. Later on they shifted it to
25th December to get the Christmas holiday openings. Due to technical
delay, they too settled for Pongal release.
Balakrishna
is pinning his hopes on 'Vamsoddarakudu' by releasing it on the
same day of 'Samara Simha Reddy'. Gayatri crew is busy canning the
remaining three songs in North India. Balakeishna is doing his best
by postponing the call sheets given to other producers in order
to make this film release for Pongal.
Dr Mohan Babu
announced the date of release on the day of muhurtham and made it
with perfect planning and one film at a time strategy.
Krishna planned
the Yuvaraju (Film by Mahesh) for Pongal. But due to schedule overrun
this film's release is postponed to Feb. Its very sad that we do
not have any new Krishna film release on the day of Pongal. Krishna
is touted as 'Sankranthi Monaganu'. To pacify the crowds, he is
planning the re-release of his yesteryear's blockbuster 'koduku
diddina kapuram'.
Editor Mohan
is releasing his film 'Kshemamgaa Velli Labhamgaa Raa' for Sankrathi.
He scheduled it for 1st January release. But due to time overrun
he shifted the release date. This family oriented film has three
heros Srikanth, Rajendra Prasad and Brahmanandam.
Two films are
going to be released on the new millinium day. They are SV Krishna
Reddy's 'Kodanda Ramudu' and Dasari's 'Sammakka Sarakka'.
