Gudipoodi Srihari Review

There appears to be a sea change in Krishna Reddy's film making. He has been a specialist in family subjects at one stage. Then he began playing lead in his own films. Later he tried his hand at making youth films.

Now, with this film, he has tried to return to his old style, infusing some surprise element in the drama. Though this is welcome one feels he has lost his grip on such subjects too. Logic and sense are thrown to winds.

This element of 'surprise' appears stale. Imagine a situation where a rich girl, Lahari (Soundarya) in this case, gets attracted to her car driver Balaji (Chakravarti) and then agrees to stay with him in his middle class home for ten days, as a test, to understand what is in store for her, in case their marriage comes through. If she is true to her love, the compromises can be made. But that does not happen. Lahari returns to the lap of her pampering father Mahendra (Prakashraj).

The story line, poorly conceived and picturised, is full of exaggerations. Businessman Mahendra orders for every new car that comes into the market. And for every car he appoints a new driver. His house, in short, looks more like a car distribution company.

All these cars are meant to be used by a three-member family- Mahendra, his wife (Delhi Rajeswari) and their daughter Lahari. Balaji (Chakravarti) is the new recruit as one of the chauffeurs. While riding in the car that Balaji drives, Lahari gets an opportunity to watch all his 'good deeds' and naturally, she falls in love with him. This shocks Mahendra. Balaji tells Mahendra that he never tried to attract his daughter, nor loved her and promises that he will make her dislike him.

The rest shows the drama in Balaji's house with different people trying to scare her back into her father's lap.

The poor script makes the artistes look like fish out of water. Except for Soundarya, nobody impresses. Chakravarti's role is blown out of all proportion. There is no relief at all despite the presence of Sunil - who's the new comedian in the industry. Music by Krishna Reddy is not much to be talked about either.
