Cinema Halls - INOX, Hyderabad

May 19, 2009

After making it’s presence felt in Vijayawada, national multiplex chain Inox Leisure launched it’s first multiplex in Hyderabad on 9 May 2009. Located at a convenient place (beside Taj Krishna) at GVK One, INOX is the fifth multiplex in the city after Prasads, PVR, Big Cinemas and Cinemax. INOX is also houses the highest number of screens (6) among the multiplexes in Hyderabad.

Though INOX, Hyderabad is good, it’s very EXPENSIVE!

The positive points of INOX are ambiance and comfort levels.

Ambiance: The ambiance of INOX multiplex is completely different from what we have seen in other four multiplexes of Hyderabad. The interiors (yellow circles on the walls) in theaters are very good. The refuel (food counter) is good. The height of the floor is good.

Comfort level: Seats are comfortable. Rest rooms are good. You don’t feel cramped in this multiplex.

The negative points are smaller screens, high parking fees and high cost of food and beverages.

Small capacity screens: Since the screen is small, even if you get a corner seat in the fifth row from the top, you end up getting a skewed vision on the screen because seats are very nearer to the screen. All the screens are of 200 – 270 capacity. It is a disadvantage for the people who get corner seats.

Parking Fees: Parking fee is Rs. 20/ for two hours and you have to pay Rs 10/- for each extra hour you spend. Typically if we go for a Telugu cinema, we might end up paying Rs 40/- as parking fees. (I asked my driver to park in a lane beside GVK One to save the parking fee). If you take your family for shopping, eating out and watching movie in GVK One/INOX, you might end up paying more than Rs 50/- parking fee.

Expensive food and beverages: A 500 ml mineral water bottle costs Rs. 20/-. It is atrocious. You get 1 liter bottles for 25 rupees in PVR, Big Cinemas and Cinemax. Prasad Multiplex offers a 500 ml mineral bottle for only Rs. 10/- (half of what they charge in INOX). The prices of other food and beverages are also high.

INOX also offers recliner seats (each ticket costs Rs. 200/- for recliner seats)

Here is the comparison table of three multiplexes in various aspects.
