After touring USA for a couple of weeks to promote his recent film Mr. Medhavi, Raja is back in Hyderabad and shared his happiness. Here are the excerpts of a brief chitchat with him -

Which places had you been to?
I have toured many cities in USA like New Jersey, San Jose, Virginia, Chicago, Dallas and Detroit and watched Mr. Medhavi along with Telugu crowds out there. The response in New Jersey and San Jose has been fabulous and it is very good in other areas. We had the problem of snowfall in Chicago and Detroit. Northern places were difficult due to bad weather.

Are you happy as a distributor?
I had already broke even. I am going to get good profits henceforth. A place like New Jersey attracted around 2500 patrons. I still have to exhibit the film in Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Sigapore and UK.

How was the response of the crowds?
I never knew that centers like New Jersey and San Jose have such an overwhelming Telugu community. I interacted with the crowds and spoke to them in the middle of the show. They liked the message in Mr. Medhavi. USA Telugu NRIs prefer watching these kinds of experimental and different films. The HR SWOT analysis was liked very much by them as it becomes more relevant to their working environments.

Everybody appreciated Neelakanta’s work. They also enjoyed the humor in the film. There is no negative talk to the film at all.

I made many friends out there. I never had to stay in hotels anywhere.

How did your earlier films fare in USA?
The young crowd loved Vennela. Ladies and elders liked Anand.

Since you have become distributor with Mr. Medhavi, if you have not distributed any of your future films, does it imply that the inside talk is not good?
(giggles) Don’t put me into trouble by posing these kinds of questions. I might distribute my next film Bhadradri as well.
