Krish’s debut film Gamyam completed 100 days today. Idlebrain.com had a brief chitchat with director Krish. He shared his happiness about the success of the film and divulged the details of his next film with Vyjayanthi banner. Here are the excerpts –
What impact the success of Gamyam made on you?
Positives: Nobody was willing to listen to my script before Gamyam. Now the producers are willing to listen to my scripts. I have the luxury of making films with big heroes on big banners. The canvas of my films is going to be bigger. Lots of directors called me up and told me that the success of Gamyam made them confident about doing different films in different genres. I will be paid good amount of money as the remuneration. I am happy that I have shown my mettle and orientation and got it accepted by the movie lovers. It gave me tremendous confidence that I could mix philosophy in my stories and weave a gripping story with interesting screenplay.
Negative: I was fearless when I made Gamyam. I pumped in over 3 crores as a producer to make that film. I had tough time with technicians, distributors and exhibitors for my first film. After tasting success, I have become more cautious. I have become risk averse because big money is involved. I am not fearless anymore.
When are you going to direct the Hindi version of Gamyam?
Since I am taking up the project of Aswini Dutt, the Hindi version got delayed. The Hindi version will be launched in February of 2009. Dasari will produce it on Soubhagya creations banner in a joint venture with a Bollywood production house.
Tell us about your second film?
It is too early to reveal any details about my second film. Aswini Dutt will produce it on Vyjayanthi banner. A big hero will act in it. I had finished the first draft of the script. I penned story and screenplay. Now I roped in Nagaraju Gandham (dialogue writer of Gamyam) to pen dialogues. This film is likely to go to floors in the middle of August.
In Gamyam you had touched the concept of Gowtam Buddha’s redemption. Which philosophical touch are you going to give for this film?
My next film is going to be a salute to Geeta. It will incorporate the concept of Krishna Tatvam.
There are rumors that your film is titled as Jaya Krishna Mukunda Murari?
Jaya Krishna Mukunda Murari is the working title for this film. We are also considering another title ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’.
Is it a semi-mythological?
No. It is an out and out social commercial film with a streak of ‘krishna tatvam’.
Did you touch ‘Geeta’ in Gamyam?
After the death of Gaali Seenu, I had shown the five elements denoting ‘bhumi rapo nalo vayu..’ from Geeta.
Are you charging a bomb to Aswini Dutt?
No. I am being very reasonable when it comes to remuneration. It is not huge. Vyjayanthi is like a home banner to me. It is like doing a film for my family members.
Aswini Dutt is known for grandeur and robust commercial elements. You are known for sensibility, philosophy and social responsibility. What kind of film your combination is going to deliver?
It is going to strike the right balance between us.
How is the life after Gamyam?
I though I could party and have fun after Gamyam is released. But I became very busy. I partied just for 3 times so far after the release of Gamyam. But I love working for films. It gives me more kick in working films than going out and partying.
