Chitchat with Dr. Mithra
dr. motra

Hyderabad
August 18, 2008

Who is this Mitra? It was the question that drilled the brains of many at the fag end of last year. Slowly, the name became a regular phenomenon whenever people talked about politics with special reference to Chiranjeevi. Knowing that he hails from the legendary family lineage of legendary Communist leader late Puchchalapalli Sundaraiah, people’s curiosity further increased and settled at a point where they are now expecting the goods from him. Striking focus on him is that – to what extent he would guide Chiru’s party and what would be his foremost priorities as the political advisor? In an exclusive chat with Idlebrain.com, Dr. Mitra hints at some of the most important points in Chiranjeevi’s Party agenda. As he dwells into the aspects of factionism, rural poverty, malnutrition and illiteracy, Dr. Mitra looks serious, carefully trying to match his words with his thought process.

War against Factionism
Factionists are the gangsters of the ruling governments. The warring groups just change positions each time the governments change. After all, factionism is not a big problem. How many factionists are there in the state? Just 20 or 25 families. The strict figure might even be less. All these families are in posh Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills areas. The government is a mighty force. Is it really difficult for the government to deal with these few factionist families?

Illegal weapons
All these factionist families have their illegal weapons and illegal escorts and body guards. Is it possible for a common man to pass through their lanes? Everybody knows this. They also know that carrying of illegal weapon is punishable and is a non-bailable case. It invites a rigorous imprisonment of 10 to 15 years.

No temporary steps, but only eradication
We have seen a number of programs against factionism. But, all these things are like slogans. Nothing is done concretely to put an end to this problem. The only medicine to factionism is just – Eradicate it. There are two things for everything. Possible and Impossible. Yes. Eradication of factionism is possible.

Health services & Education in rural areas
We want government doctors to serve in villages. But, practically it is not possible. Why? There is no infrastructure in villages. Government should give good salaries to the doctors and should create better amenities for their stay. Medical and Paramedical services should be improved to finest levels. Education for all – It should not be a mere slogan, but should be implemented in reality. I mean quality education to the doorsteps of the rural poor.

Rural housing
Go and see the houses built in rural areas for the poor. They are worse than lavatories. Most structures will give a pathetic look with cracks. They are very unsafe to people. Political campaign

Political campaigning
(Responding to Congress leader Jeevan Reddy’s statement that Chiru’s announcement of his party was like a film shooting) There is nothing from our side to react. In our democratic polity, everybody has the right to criticize whichever he doesn’t like. They (people like Jeevan Reddy) are very senior people. We respect them. Their words speak volumes about our influence on society. They are talking about us. That means discussions have come up. This is very important. I don’t agree with what you say...but I will defend to death your right to say it. This is my philosophy.

295 MLAs & 42 MPs
We wish to have our participation in all 295 assembly constituencies and 42 MP Seats. But, we don’t rule out alliances in future.
