Story

Chandu (Naga Chaitanya) is a smart thief who enters that profession out of compulsion as his father is in jail and he needs to pay for education of his sister. He falls in love with Meera (Kriti Sanon) - a medical student. Manikyam (Posani Krishna Murali) is a big thief whose expertise lies in bank heists. Rest of the story is all about how Chandu is connected to Manikyam.

Artists Performance

Actors: It’s a different film for Naga Chaitanya and he gave a commanding performance. Finally, we have seen a cigarette smoking heroine in a Telugu film (in which hero doesn’t smoke). Kriti Sanon is fine as main lead. Chinmayi who is associated mostly with Samantha has dubbed for Kriti. Madhurima Benerjee is hot in an item song. Posani Krishna Murali did the role of a comedy villain and he has succeeded in providing entertainment. Saptagiri is good in court scene. Brahmanandam played the role of an aging film star. Rao Ramesh has a limited role. Viva Harsha makes his presence felt. Satya is good as hero’s buddy. Ravi Babu plays corrupt cop convincingly.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: It’s a routine revenge story. But a smart screenplay in the first half makes it appealing. Director has created curiosity and confusion in 1st half by not showing ‘a few days before’ card after the first episode of the movie. Sudheer Varma has made a guilt-free hatke film in the form of Swamy Ra Ra as his debut. But for this film, he wanted to go for sentiment (the father/sister senti and an unappealing flashback) which have become a kind of excess baggage. The second half is dragged with extended twists. However, the climax part is entertaining.

Other departments: Music by Sunny MR is unexciting. Most of the songs have similar pattern. Cinematography by Richard Prasad is good. Dialogues are partly good. Editing should have been better.


Analysis: First half of the film is alright with nice screenplay. The main story is revealed in the second half. It’s slow. Sudheer Varma who came up with a refreshing concept for Swamy Ra Ra seems to have gone for sentiment and drama for this movie. In a revenge movie, it’s very important to have the hero/villain rivalry running right from the beginning. The main conflict point became passive in this movie. It’s a disappointment if you expect the freshness of Swamy Ra Ra. Otherwise, there is a bit of entertainment!
