Railway Raju (Sree Vishnu) is an aspiring cricketer. Imtiaz Ali (Nara Rohith) is an honest cop who is known to bring criminals to justice by hook or by crook. Railway Raju’s sister is a naxalite. Imtiaz Ali troubles Railway Raju to get to a leader in naxalites. In the process, Railway Raju’s dream of entering into Ranji team is shattered. With nothing to lose, Railway Raju takes the wrong route to get back at Imtiaz Ali. Rest of the story is all about the duel between these two men on the opposite sides.
Actors: This movie belongs to Sree Vishnu as the story is all about Railway Raju character. Sree Vishnu who is mostly seen in hyper roles in the past has got the opportunity to do other emotions in the film. He is good in emotional scenes also, but need to work on dialogue delivery for non-hyper dialogues. Nara Rohith plays another author-backed role convincingly. It’s good to see Nara Rohith patronising other heroes by letting them take central stage in a film that’s presented by him. Tanya Hope is nice as the love interest of Sree Vishnu. Brahmaji gets another meaty role and does it well with his comedy & sentiment (climax scene) timing. Sasha Singh is fine as a girl who is searching for a critical information. Rajiv Kanakala is dignified as a politician. GV Sudhakar plays a role of a rowdy. Ravi Varma is good in a cameo of a naxal leader. Prabhas Seenu makes his presence felt. 
Story - screenplay - direction: Sagar K Chandra who has shown some spark in story writing of his debut film Ayyare made sure that he worked hard on content of Appatlo Okadundevaadu. Since the film has period backdrop (with naxalism) and inspired by real incidents, it has rise and fall of characters. You can see heroism and villainy in both characters of Railway Raju and Imtiaz Ali. Since it also shows the fall of character, it may not appeal all the audiences. You do sympathise with Railway Raju character in the first half and Imtiaz Ali character in the second half. Some of the incidents in the film appear forced in order to gain sympathy. Krishna Vijay (producer of the film) won over audiences of Asura with a climax twist in that film. Just about when we thought the film is over, director Sagar starts unfolding a few key scenes to create an interesting climax twist. I think in these two films (Asura and Appatlo Okadundevadu), it’s the climax twist that makes audience feel good about the film while coming out. The way film reel is shown in flashback of the flashback is good. Since the movie has Telangana backdrop, the makers should have taken care of using proper Telangana dialect in dialogues.
Other departments: Background music by Sai Karthik is good. But a few songs are not needed for a content-oriented film like this. Camera work by Naveen Yadav complements the period setting. Dialogues written by Sagar K Chandra are apt. Editing is fine. Art direction is appropriate. Fights are realistic. Production values are decent. 
Analysis: Appatlo Okadundevadu is about two characters which are dealt with reality. You can see rise and fall of these characters followed by a climax twist. Films of these nature are rare in Telugu films as audiences are not used to these subject. Plus points of the film are writing, performances and realistic approach. On the flipside, a film of this nature needs to be more engaging with an arresting screenplay which is missing in this film (except for the climax). On a whole, Appatlo Okadundevadu is a film with decent content.
