Story

Happy Wedding jeevi reviewAnand (Sumanth Ashwin) and Akshara (Niharika Konidela) fall in love and their parents accept them. Marriage date is fixed and engagement is done. That’s when Akshara starts to develop cold feet as she notices that Anand stopped giving her attention like he did in the past. Akshara expresses her doubt to Anand and he assures that everything will be alright. Rest of the story is all about how Anand convinces Akshara.

Artists Performance

Happy Wedding jeevi reviewActors: Sumanth Ashwin is very good as a guy with lots of positivity in him. He has delivered mouthful of dialogues with authority. Niharika Konidela is also very good as a confused girl. She has performed really in well in emotional scenes where she has to explain herself. You will see a new Niharika in this film. It’s not easy for a new-comer to perform such an author-backed role filled with a weakness so confidently. Raja Chembolu (Sirivennela’s son), who has got recognition with hero’s brother role in Fidaa has done a vital character in this film and he is very good. Murali Sharna comes up with another good performance as an endearing father of heroine. Indraja is seen in a different role and is good. VK Naresh gets a mildly entertaining father role and does justice. It’s nice to see Annapurna in a lengthy role after a gap. Pujitha Ponnada plays heroine’s buddy role. Pavitra and Tulasi make their presence felt as mothers.

Happy Wedding jeevi reviewTechnical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Happy Wedding is an official remake of a Marathi film titled ‘Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2’. The story is about a girl’s confusion after engagement. It’s a very delicate subject that can only work with moments and depth in narration. The Debutant director Lakshman Karya has taken a brave stand to stick with narrative and not to delve into commercial elements (like forced comedy track). He has stuck mostly with the original in terms of scenes and shot-making and didn’t bother to have his own perspective into it (didn’t even change the games they play at farmhouse to Telugu nativity games). This story is not about falling in love. Hence the director need to fill up 2 hours and 15 minutes with wedding preparation and heroine’s confusion. The movie is decent till interval as it’s engaging. Since the entire 2nd half deals with heroine’s indecisiveness, it’s very difficult to narrate the story without audiences getting restless. Confusion part of the heroine looks more like foolishness than the genuine confusion. Hence, we might become restless when heroine keeps her confusion till the last day of wedding. The narration of the film is very slow.

Happy Wedding jeevi reviewOther departments: Background music by Thaman is pretty good. Songs scored by Shashikanth are good. All of them are situational and blend into the movie except for the title song that comes before climax. Visuals by cinematographer Balreddy are glossy. The visual palette mostly includes cyan colors (especially cyan blue and cyan green). Dialogues written by Bhavani Prasad are good and it’s a conversational oriented movie. Production design is sleek. Editing is alright. Production values by Pocket Cinema and UV Creations are excellent.

Happy Wedding jeevi reviewAnalysis: Though it’s a remake of a Marathi blockbuster Mumbai Pune Mumbai 2, Happy Wedding is a risky film to make despite being in salable genres like romance and family drama because the entire film revolves around a wafer-thin subject. The director has succeeded in getting few moments right, but couldn’t give a racy narration and a convincing second half. The entire film is class and glossy and will be liked the ultra class audiences. The lack of logic (heroine’s foolishness in second half and hero’s lethargy in first half (not going to bus station when his fiance is waiting all alone)) which form the basic conflict point might make you squirm!
