Story
Aadhi (Sharwanand) is an aspiring musician and singer. He loses his mother (Amala) during childhood and keeps missing her even after 20 years. His childhood friends (Vennela Kishore and Priyadarsi) are also frustrated with their lives. Paul (Nassar) is a scientist who finds a time machine. He accidentally runs into this trio and offers them a chance to go back in time and change their fate. In return, they need to do a favor for Paul. Rest of the story is about what happens when they go 20 years back!
Artists Performance
It’s a tailor-made role for Sharwanand and he does an excellent job. Vennela Kishore gets a meaningful role and performs well by showing a lot of variations. Priyadarshi is lovable and perfect. Amala is excellent as a mother. Ritu Varma doesn’t have much of a role in the film. Nassar is very good. Most of the side characters are chosen from Tamil as it’s a film that's made in two languages simultaneously.
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is good. It’s about three youngsters trying to correct things from the past when they are given a second chance. Each of 3 main characters (Sharwanand, Vennela Kishore and Priyadarsi) have genuine conflict points which are intertwined with that of Nasser's character. The idea of grownups meeting their kid-characters is a thrilling idea (though it looks familiar to those who watched ‘The Dark’ series on Netflix). The last portion of the film is philosophical and pragmatic at the same time. Sharwanand’s character in the film is very nicely designed without using any forced commercial trappings. Mother sentiment which forms the base for the story works well. It’s a universal emotion. Vennela Kishore’s character has entertainment and a sincere purpose as well. However, the narration of the film is very slow. Since it’s shot as a bilingual, most of the other characters in the film have Tamil actors. Hence, Telugu nativity is missing in the film. It’s like watching a Tamil dubbed film. Fans of Chiranjeevi are in for a treat as there are innumerable references to his films.
Other departments: Background music by Jakes Bejoy is very good. Songs from the film are okay. Cinematography by Sujith Sarang is good. Production design needs a commendation. Dialogues written by Tharun Bhasckar are fine. Editing by Sreejith Sarang is good. Production values by Dream Warrior banner are decent.
Analysis: Oke Oka Jeevitham has a nice story line, novel factor of time travel and mother sentiment. Director blended all emotions organically into the story and came up with a decent product. Sincere performances and honest characterizations are strengths as well. However, slow narration and not having proper Telugu nativity will hamper the universal acceptability. Oke Oka Jeevitham is a different and artistic film. It’s not for everybody. But if you are looking for a different film, this is it for you!
